How to Compare Cosmetic Laser Training Programs

Most people researching cosmetic laser training end up looking at two or three programmes and struggling to tell them apart. The websites all promise hands-on training, expert instructors and a career afterwards.

So rather than tell you we are the best, here are the questions that actually separate one programme from another. Ask them of us and of anyone else you are considering.

How many devices will you actually train on?

This is the single biggest difference between programmes, and it is rarely stated plainly.

Most schools cover the same core ground: laser hair removal, IPL, radiofrequency heating and Q-switched tattoo removal. The question is what sits beyond that.

Our Certified Laser Specialist course trains you on nine distinct lasers and radiofrequency devices, including CO2 fractional, RF microneedling, Pico tattoo removal and Pico facials.

Worth checking elsewhere: are the advanced devices included, or are they a separate course at additional cost and additional days? And is picosecond technology covered at all? Those two questions alone often explain a price difference.

What is the real total cost?

Compare the whole path to the skills you actually want, not the headline number.

Our course is $6,500, and that includes the training, your books, classroom materials and lunches. There are no hidden fees.

If a competing programme quotes less but places the advanced devices in a second course, add both together and add the extra days off work. If it quotes more, ask what the extra buys you.

How long are you actually in the room?

Ours runs as 20 hours online at your own pace, then five days on site here in Denver.

Ask where the on-site portion happens. Some programmes run in a hotel or a temporary space rather than a working clinic. That affects what equipment is present and how realistic the practice is.

How big is the class?

We cap ours deliberately.

Class size determines how much one-to-one time you get, and that in turn determines how well you actually understand laser physics, safety and technique rather than just watching them demonstrated. Smaller groups mean more time on real models across more devices, with unrestricted access to your instructor.

Ask any programme what their maximum class size is. A programme that is proud of the number will tell you immediately.

Who is teaching, and do they still treat patients?

All of our instructors are full-time laser technicians who perform the same treatments they teach, every week.

That matters more than it sounds. There is a real difference between being taught by someone who supervises treatments and being taught by someone whose hands are on the device daily. Ask whether your instructor still performs the procedures, and how recently.

Is the programme approved, and by whom?

Our curriculum is approved by the Colorado Department of Higher Education, Division of Private Occupational Schools Board.

Approval bodies vary by state, so check what applies where you intend to work, and check our state requirements page for what your licence will need.

Ask us the same questions

If a programme cannot answer these plainly, that is your answer. We would rather you arrive having compared properly than find out in week one that the device you wanted to learn was not included.
